Study Plan Session 2

I'm going to work on building up writing and reading skills for this session. Previously (last year), I was trying to tank my way into Japanese by learning as much vocabulary as possible.  However, learning vocabulary without learning much grammar and sentence structure really hinders applicable language learning and becomes discouraging in the long run (as I cannot see the results of my efforts).

This session, I'm aiming to be able to write something a little less basic than just the standard introduction.  It's good that I've built up some vocabulary, but I also need to learn how to apply what I've learned to something meaningful.

The study plan goals are:
- Learn grammar points from http://thejapanesepage.com/grammar.htm
- Learn grammar points from Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese
- Retain vocabulary by writing a few sentences everyday
- Learn vocabulary related to talking about oneself

I'm keeping the study plan free form and only including the goals of this session. Because I have a full-time job, I don't want to plan out my study habits and find that I cannot follow through on them because of not having the time to complete them.

Session 2 Day 1 Kanji

In order to make the kanji for the JLPT N5 (formally known as JLPT 4), I thought it would be better to have phrases with the specific kanji in it along with sentences that apply that phrase. This list was gathered from http://www.jlptstudy.com/N5/ which I highly recommend for studying the JLPT.

近所には一握りのいたずらっ子がいる。
きんじょにはひとにぎりのいたずらっこがいる。
There are a small handful of naughty boys in my neighborhood.

近所（きんじょう） n. neighborhood

一員（いちいん） n. person, member

君はいまやエリート集団の一員だ。
きみはいまやエリートしゅうだんのいちいんだ。
You are now among the elite.

集団（しゅうだん）n. group, mass

Revival of Journey to JLPT

I will be trying to go back and study Japanese again this summer (mostly only for this month), but again, I'll be documenting my study of Japanese and perhaps trying to optimize other beginners' learning of Japanese later.
